Welcome to Small Point – Broad Cove – Blackhead – Adam’s Cove the smallest town with the longest name and biggest heart!
A little over 30 years ago a few lesbians started to migrate to Broad Cove a very small town on the rugged coast of Conception Bay North. Houses were pretty affordable and it was a fairly easy drive from “town”. Some bought summer houses, while others came out to visit. Over the years bit by bit, the community grew and soon there were lesbians living here full-time. After some bumps along the way the general community got to know us and eventually moved from calling us “the girls” to “our girls”. We became neighbours and friends.
A few years ago a group of us older and maybe somewhat wiser lesbians started the non-profit group Pride Around the Bay.
Every year we organize pride celebrations highlighting and celebrating queer culture and artists. 2022 was Newfoundland and Labrador’s “Come Home Year” so we couldn’t resist hosting “Come Home Queer”. We even made a 6 part series of short films capturing that fabulous festival.

This year brought us to NL’s “Year of the Arts 2024”, and we couldn’t help but organize “Queering The Arts” a fabulous experiential and interactive queer arts festival held September 13-15th 2024!
